When the Devonshire Group were looking for a video company to support them in producing their annual review film, they contacted BAFTA award-winning director Dan Gordon www.verymuchso.co.uk for advice.
We’ve been working with Dan for more than ten years, he’s the executive producer on our epic documentary project The Best Is Yet To Come, which follows the life of Sierra Leonean footballer Alhassan Kamara, so we were delighted when he recommended us and, after interviews and reviewing our work, we were invited to get involved.
The Devonshire Group is the company that brings together the charities, businesses and estates in the care of the Devonshire family, including Chatsworth in Derbyshire, the Bolton Abbey Estate in North Yorkshire, and the Lismore Estate in County Waterford, Ireland.
Shooting across the Devonshire Group estates
The brief was to create a 40 minute documentary-style report which shows the amazing range of activity across the Devonshire Group estates, anchored by interviews with staff across the business, highlighting and communicating the group’s achievements over the last year and outlining plans for the future.
This was an internal communications project: the aim was to inspire pride and reinforce the already-strong sense of team and community that exists across the group, as well as communicating the organisation’s aims for the following year.
Shot solely by Nova at the Chatsworth (Derbyshire), Bolton Abbey (Yorkshire) and Lismore (County Waterford) estates – the film features the famous properties alongside farms, commercial property developments, hotels, holiday homes, shops and more.
Working with the brilliant Devonshire Group staff
It was a fantastic opportunity to work on a major project for a prestigious organisation and brand. The Devonshire Group Autumn Review film involved the whole Nova team and all of our skills, from pre-production planning, the shoot, and the very-involved edit and post-production process.
We visited some beautiful places and were supported by a genuinely welcoming, positive and enthusiastic group of people who made our work a real pleasure.
The Devonshire Group were over-the-moon with the final film and we’re looking forward to working with them again soon.
